If you want to race dinghies and catamarans, then the Southern Charter Grand Slam Series is the top sailing series in not only the Western Cape but the whole of Southern Africa.
The Grand Slam committee invites you to take part in the following events:
|Grand Slam 1||Zeekoevlei Yacht Club||19th & 20th September 2015|
|Grand Slam 2||Theewater Sports Club||5th & 6th December 2015|
|Grand Slam 3||Hermanus Yacht Club||6th and 7th February 2016|
|Grand Slam Final||Voelvlei Yacht Club – Saldanha bay||25th to 28th March 2016|
This is the 3rd year of the Grand Slam series and the committee have learnt a great deal and the event constantly evolves to offer better events for the participants and supporters. This year we are excited to announce all events are away from the City of Cape Town offering neutral venue’s to select a Grand Slam champion. With 2 Offshore venues and 2 inshore venues the events are hosted in the top sailing waters of the Western Cape. The Grand Slam Series consistently gets over 200 competitors at every event, making these spectacles of sailing an experience nobody wants to miss.
Our first event, Grand Slam 1, incorporating the SAS Eastern Cape Championships and the Mosquito/ Fireball Nationals, will be hosted in sunny Mossel Bay. After a bitterly cold winter in Cape Town sailors will enjoy some sunny weather on the South Coast voted as the best climate in the world after to Hawaii. This will certainly launch us into SUMMER!
Following a successful 2013/14 Southern Charter Grand Slam Series we have pleasure in announcing that Southern Charter ( www.southerncharter.co.za) has committed to sponsoring this event for the next two years.
